Happy Friday, Lovelies! Today I’m taking curls. My hair is naturally curly and I wear it that way about 50% of the time. I get requests over @ahousewithbooks for curly tips and routine all the time and today I’m finally delivering!
If you want to watch my routine in action head to my Instagram page and find the Curly Routine highlight. For now, lets focus on tips and my favorite curly products!
Curly Tips
–Shampoo Less, Condition Often: Unless you have very fine hair I recommend only washing (shampooing) your curls every few days. Washing them dries out your hair and adds frizz which most of us curly girls battle. If you want to start over, rinse and condition!
–Towels Are Not Your Friend: Use an old t-shirt to dry your curls, towels cause friction which adds frizz!
–Satin Is Your Friend: Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase to reduce frizz and flattening.
–Don’t Touch, Scrunch: As soon as you get out of the shower and have shirt-dried your hair put on your curl product right away (when your hair is still dripping a bit). This cream is my new favorite! Don’t touch your hair a lot unless you have project or oil on your hands – our hands dry out our hair and lead to….you guessed it, frizz!
–Creams Deliver: Err on the side of using creams over gel or mouse. Those tend to give you crunchy/wet curls and nobody wants that!
–Diffuse Lightly: Don’t turn the heat all the way up on your blow dryer when diffusing and only dry the same section a few seconds at a time.
–Oil,Oil,Oil: Carry a bottle of oil like this one around with you all day and scrunch a bit on when things start looking fuzzy.
–Touch Up: Use a second day cream like this amazing product to revive those curls!
I hope this helps and inspires some of you to wear your hair curly more often! Comment below with any questions you have for me and thanks for stopping by!
