Ahhh, feels so good to be back in my genre! If you’ve been around my book reviews for any amount of time you know WW2 Historical Fiction (particularly set in England) is my jam.
We Must Be Brave by Frances Liardet did not disappoint. It’s such a unique, heart wrenching story about the sacrifices that people had to make during the war, the huge life-altering decisions and the decades long effects of those decisions. We Must Be Brave follows the life of Ellen, a newly married, young woman who finds a little girl on a bus in the middle of the war. How she chooses to care for that toddler changes the course of her entire life and that decision reverberates throughout her entire community. Mothers, historical fiction enthusiasts and those interested in the complex ebb and flow of the communities we live in will love this novel. I highly recommend it!
