Who’s ready for a book review? I haven’t posted one of these on the blog in forever, but I get so many requests for book recommendations that I want to start back up again.
I just finished The Lost Girls of Paris and I loved it! This historical fiction novel is written by Pam Jenoff, author of the wildly popular The Orphan Train and many other WW2 based novels. It’s my favorite genre, but somehow this is my first Jenoff book – I’m very impressed with her writing and the novel. Like I said, historical fiction based in the WW2 era is my favorite genre and probably makes up about 80% of what I read. My point is, I read similar books quite often and this one stands out.
The story, while based on true events, has an alluring pulse and Jenoff’s writing is smart, but not overly documentarian or complicated. Even if you don’t normally like historical fiction or are just starting to dive into the genre I would highly recommend this book. I also adore writers that can tell a story from different the viewpoint of different narrators and do it well – Jenoff more than delivers on this front. Finally, not only is this tale incredibly inspiring (hello!…female spies, moms and wives, risking it all for their country) and intriguing, Jenoff also manages to weave in a two beautiful love stories.
I hope you guys enjoy The Lost Girls of Paris! Make sure to tag me on Instagram with a picture of the book and let me know what you think! Happy Reading, Lovelies!
