Hi Lovelies! Can you believe Christmas is less than two weeks away? I genuinely can’t. I feel like people spend so much time saying it’s too early to decorate, it’s too early for Christmas…then all of a sudden it’s here and you feel like it went by way too fast! Am I the only one?
For the past couple of years we’ve decorated the week before Thanksgiving and then put the final trimmings on the tree on Thanksgiving Day…I love it. It feels like we get to start enjoying the Christmas season as soon as the turkey plates are in the dishwasher and that’s just how I like it.
This year, I’m joining some blogger friends of mine and we’re sharing our favorite Christmas rooms with you! Isn’t that fun? If you’re following along with the tour, you just came from Kelly at The Tattered Pew’s kitchen. Isn’t Kelly’s style beautiful?? It’s always so festive and welcoming, she knows what it means to create a true home for her family.
At the end of this post you’ll find links to all of the other Christmas rooms on the tour. There is a great mix of rooms and styles so you don’t want to miss any of them! For now, let’s focus on this house of books…my favorite Christmas room is our living room.
Our tree is obviously the focal point in this room and we adore it. This year, we went with a 7.5 King Flock from King of Christmas.
I’m a normally a real tree, ride or die girl, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have one of these gorgeous trees. It’s so lifelike and the attention to detail is incredible. I’ve never seen a more beautiful tree, real or faux.
We did end up putting a small, real tree in the dining room though. Can’t mess with tradition😉
Aother new piece in this room that has transformed the space is our rug from Rugs USA. We finally got a rug big enough for this space and I’m obsessed with this moroccan pattern. It’s super soft, doesn’t shed and would hide stains very well. You can find it here.
If you follow me on Instagram you know that my theme this year was…not to have a theme. I just wanted to keep things simple and I’m so glad I did. Most of these decor pieces are here (or somewhere else in our home) year round. With the exception of a few things like the tree, garland and DIY sign with my favorite Christmas lyrics this is our home.
I just wanted it to feel like our house with a little bit of Christmas sparkle. In years past I’ve put away everything that didn’t scream Christmas and in the process lost the identity of our home. Things like the faux air plant in the gallery wall or black and white pillows would have been stashed away because they weren’t ‘Christmasy’ enough…this year I decided not to be so hard on myself. I can’t tell you how good it feels, I just told my husband today this is my favorite Christmas yet. The minimal decor vibe has transferred to our entire holiday season. We’re just doing what we want, focusing on each other and not trying to squeeze so much in. It’s been magical to say the least.
I mentioned our DIY sign above and I’m so happy you guys love it. I’ve gotten so many messages and emails asking where I got or how you can make it.
It’s as easy as buying a blank canvas at your local craft store and hot gluing whatever message you like with wooden craft letters. So fun, right? We also have a larger version above our bed.
Another piece we love is our simple, wooden advent calendar puzzle. It lives on our coffee table and my daughter gets to pick out a wooden piece every day to put on the mantel. She can play with the unused pieces as a puzzle and we’ve had so much fun with it.
We needed new stockings this year because we added a fourth family member:) I found these at Hobby Lobby, but you can find a similar version here.
Did y’all catch my stories about the fun knot pillows that I found for less than $10? I love this little cutie, it adds so much interest to any space. You can find it here in a bunch of different colors.
This basket is perfect for holding all of those cozy, winter throws.
And that’s my favorite Christmas room! I’ll forever treasure this room, no matter where we live, because it’s where we celebrate Christmas with our babies, cozy up at night together after they’ve gone to bed and make all of our best memories.
Thank you so much for stopping by and don’t forget to continue the tour! Areeba at Minty Candy Designs is up next and she’s sharing her gorgeous Christmas bedroom! Happy Holidays, lovelies!
xoxo,
Hayley
