“Is the spring coming?” he said. “What is it like?”…
“It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine…”
Frances Hodgson Burnett {A Secret Garden}
How magical is this time of year? It’s my favorite time of year to decorate our home because it involves bringing the outside in. I do this all year around, but spring is the time to really go all in, you know? I least I did this year…our house feels a little bit like a greenhouse and I.love.it.
I’m so excited to join the Joyful Spring Home Tour with some of the best home bloggers out there. It’s genuinely an honor to be in the company of such talent and we’re so grateful that our friends at hayneedle.com are sponsoring this tour. We’re also excited to offer you, our readers, the chance to win a $250 Hayneedle shopping spree. Just follow the link at the end of this post to enter and make sure you’re following Hayneedle on Instagram to be eligible.
And without further ado, spring has sprung in the entryway…
I keep this painting here most of the year, but it really shines in spring. The vintage paper cutter has also become a staple in this space (it compliments our antique table) and I freshened things up with white, faux flowers in a thrifted vase, potted double azaleas (from Trader Joe’s), and wooden bead garland.
I love decorating with potted plants instead of cut flowers in springtime because I can easily plant them outside when I’m done with them indoors.
Moving on past the formal entry you come to our drop-off area, which is always a fun space to update with the seasons. This year I added a sweet banner from Target’s dollar spot, a vintage fish pot and simple faux flowers.
These tulips are from Trader Joe’s, but we kicked off the season by visiting a local tulip farm and it was such a wonderful experience! If you live in North Texas, I highly recommend checking out Texas Tulips in Pilot Point.
And because I can’t let the books feel left out…
Pretty, aren’t they? π
This cart in the kitchen area is a new addition to our home and I’m certainly smitten with it. It’s so fun to decorate and most importantly, is extremely functional when it’s time to entertain. For spring I added a faux topiary from Hayneedle and I’m so impressed with the quality of this piece. I love its airy, natural look and it brings life to a space that doesn’t have a lot of natural light.
I also added some hydrangeas from Trader Joe’s and one of my new frames from Target’s dollar spot. I bought a ton of these frames when they came out a few weeks ago because I was on a mission to incorporate more family photos into our decor and these elegant frames fit the bill.
Directly across from the cart is our kitchen. Its natural state is already fresh and bright so for spring I simply brought in some fresh pears and lemons and a yummy candle.
Oh, and can you spy that cute Easter tea towel on the oven? My hubs picked that up for me at…you guessed it, the dollar spot;)
Our next project (hopefully before baby comes in August) is backsplash! What do you think of the sample subway tile we are sampling? We’re trying to decide between this and honeycomb.
Up next is our living room. This is always my favorite room in the house and I’m so glad I finally found the perfect piece for above the mantel. I’ve had a vision in my head of the exact piece of art I wanted since we moved in…something abstract, bright and with a feel of being in the clouds.
Hayneedle nailed it, right?? This gorgeous piece is from their site and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s full of texture, nuance and gives the classic, elegant vibe I was looking for.
As for the rest of the room, I brought in spring with some stunning, potted ranunculus, a new orchid baby (Trader Joe’s has the best floral prices, hands down) and another delicious candle- Ocean Breeze, by DW Home.
These are small updates, but I think it’s important to mention I didn’t just update this room with new purchases. For every season I always shop the house and rearrange to give our home a new vibe. This is the easiest and cheapest way to freshen up your home and honestly, it usually makes the most impact. For example I moved our wicker truck to the hearth, brought my garage-sale candlesticks back up to the mantel and added some family photos to our gallery wall.
Lastly, these banana leaf pillows that Shelby Dillon sent me have made my life. I’ve had them for a while now and they still catch my eye every time I walk into the room. They’re truly a work of art and I’m so happy to have them in this space.
Let’s head into the dining room…
Again, my main update here is floral. This lovely array of spring flowers brings so much color and whimsy to this room. I loved adding them to these texture rich vases I found for less than $10 (total!) at Marshall’s.
The last stop on the tour is our master bedroom. Pink has really stolen my heart this spring and what better place to put those pink tulips than our bedroom?
p.s. I’m reading & Sons by David Gilbert and ohhh it’s so good. It’s New York, it’s thought provoking and it makes for the perfect spring read.
We also finally updated our bedding with this luxurious duvet cover from Linens & Hutch. They sent me this cover and two pillow shams and I couldn’t be happier with them. They have that sleek, hotel look and holy cow, are they smooth and silky. We’ve slept with this set for a couple of nights now and I’m really excited to go to bed tonight, lol.
That’s all the spring I’ve got for y’all…what do you think? Do you enjoy decorating for spring as much as I do? I hope you’ve found some inspiration for your own home along the way and I’m so grateful you stopped by.
Again, huge thanks to hayneedle.com again for sponsoring this tour and please don’t forget to enter the $250 giveaway here. (You must be following them on Instagram to be eligible)
